Welcome! I am incredibly excited to share this blog and brand with you. I wanted to make the first post sort of an Introduction into who I am, what this blog is about, and how you can benefit from it.
My name is Collette, I’m an Artist and Graphic Designer from Georgia but now reside back on Eastern Long Island, which is where I was raised. Long Island is.. not the city as many assume. Although there is such a thing as “Long Island City” but that’s something completely different. So Long Island is mainly vineyards, a lot of people, cars that go too fast, egg sandwiches, and beaches everywhere you go. You can learn more about me and my small businesses on the About page.
So let’s cut to the chase. I wouldn’t consider myself an expert Business Woman or Artist etc, because there is ALWAYS room to learn and grow. I have however, had a lot of friends and colleagues who come to me for advice on how to market themselves, price their work, and find the right clients for them, amongst other things. I figured this would be a great resource for creatives to gain information from. Because I know, sometimes it’s hard to search Pinterest all day to find exactly what you’re looking for. It can be nerve wracking.. but learning about where to place yourself in your field and navigating all of it is really going to set you apart and bring you further into success. There is no business without real WORK being done in the background. If you’re a creative, especially an artist, you know very well that your business is not just coloring and catching butterflies all day. It takes a lot of work to be a self-starter and stay dedicated and disciplined.
This is where Design or DIY (pronounced like Die because we’re morbid I guess) comes into play. Our blog is entirely free to read, learn from, and you may message us with any questions. We do offer different paid options which not only helps keep this blog running, but also provides you with more individualized attention and resources that can really help your take your business further.
